What is small diameter seamless steel pipe?
Small diameter seamless steel pipes can be divided into hot rolled pipes, cold rolled pipes, cold drawn pipes and extruded pipes according to different production methods. Hot rolled seamless pipes are generally produced on automatic plug mills.
The solid tube blank of small diameter seamless steel tube is inspected and cleaned of surface defects and cut to the required length, centered on the perforated end of the tube blank, and then sent to the heating furnace to be pierced on the piercing machine while continuously rotating and moving forward during the piercing process. With the action of the plug, a cavity called capillary tube is gradually formed in the tube blank, and then sent to the automatic rolling mill to continue rolling. Finally, the wall thickness is uniformed by the equalizer, and the diameter is sizing by the sizing machine to meet the specification requirements. The continuous rolling tube is used to produce hot rolled seamless steel pipes by the unit is a more advanced method. If you want to obtain smaller size seamless pipes with better quality, cold rolling, cold drawing or a combination of the two methods must be used. Cold rolling is usually performed on a two-high rolling mill. The steel pipe is rolled in an annular pass formed by a variable cross-section circular hole groove and a fixed tapered plug. The cold drawing is usually carried out on a single-chain or double-chain cold-drawing machine. The tube blank is heated. The perforated rod and the extrusion rod are placed in a closed extrusion cylinder to move together, so that the extruded part is extruded from a smaller die hole. This method can produce steel pipes with a smaller diameter.
